Alix Debray is from France where she has been studying and working in water sciences for five years. She holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Water Jobs and is currently preparing an Engineering Diploma with the National School for Water and Environmental Engineering of Strasbourg, France (ENGEES). Thanks to work-study programs, she acquired work experience in the public as well as private sectors in the water, hydraulic and environmental fields. She is currently working for the French Railway Company (SNCF) where she analyses watersheds, rivers and legislation in order to draft studies to manage the resource accordingly to its use. She is interested in acquiring some insight in social sciences in order to combine the knowledge of both scientific and social aspects of water, work on research projects with a global insight, and gain an understanding of the issues at stake.
Alix undertakes a two-month Research Assistantship under the supervision of Dr Nidhi Nagabhatla at UNU-INWEH. Her key responsibilities will be to draft a report for the ‘Water Security’ training course – a component on ‘Peace and Political Stability’. She will be working with McMaster University’s Peace Studies group lead by Dr Nancy Doubleday.
