Senior Advisor: Water education and knowledge management
Colin Mayfield is a graduate of the University of Liverpool in England where he received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Biology. His research interests include water microbiology, soil microbiology, groundwater systems, aquatic toxicology, and integrated water resource management. He authored or co-authored over 200 papers in those areas and worked as a consultant for many governments, international and national agencies, and various companies. He has taught microbiology and IWRM courses; many of them were also given through Distance Learning programs at the University of Waterloo (Ontario) and UNU-INWEH. Colin is also a Professor of Microbiology at the University of Waterloo, where he was previously the Associate Dean of Computing. Prof Mayfield contributes to development of new online course development at UNU-INWEH, and to research on the status and trends in capacity development in the water sector.
