Jana Gheuens graduated from the University of Ghent, Belgium with a Bachelor in Political Science and a MSc in European Studies, focusing on European Union climate policy. She continued her education with a MSc in Global Environmental History at Uppsala University, Sweden. There she studied the relationship between landscape and identity on island states in the Pacific. For her thesis, she spent two months doing fieldwork in Kiribati in the Central Pacific Ocean. At UNU-INWEH, Jana’s work focuses on the impact of water-related SDGs on Small Island Developing States, and contributing to the Global Seaweed STAR programme, a collaboration with the Scottish Association for Marine Science. Jana has previously interned at the Belgium Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya where she worked on political and multilateral affairs.
