McMaster University Student Traineeship (MUST) Programme Scholar
Spencer Williams holds a B.Arts Sc. (Honours) from McMaster University, where he is also completing a Master’s degree in Economic Policy. He is concurrently enrolled in the Water Without Borders collaborative diploma programme jointly offered by McMaster University and UNU-INWEH.
He will be working under the supervision of Dr. Duminda Pererra towards developing a risk index that serves to quantify both natural and man-made water-related threats for major cities, with an emphasis on cities’ vulnerability to terrorism. His focus will be to identify relevant indicators, as well as pilot cities in which to trial these measures.
Spencer’s academic interests include sustainable cities and international environmental cooperation, and he looks forward to exploring these issues further at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID), Geneva, where he will pursue a Master’s degree in International Affairs in September.
