21st Century Water Security Challenges for Society and Science

Tuesday April 8th, 2014, 3:30-6:00pm, The Atrium at McMaster Innovation Park, 175 Longwood Road South, L8P 0A1

Water security is a defining challenge in the 21st century, spanning multiple dimensions from drinking water and food production to climate risks and economic growth in international rivers. This distinguished lecture will outline pressing water security challenges for society at multiple scales from the local to global. Professor Grey will identify policy challenges to guide interdisciplinary science agendas based on the lessons from 40 years as a water practitioner with field work in over 70 countries. The lecture will be followed by a panel of experts from McMaster University, United Nations University and regional partners who will discuss how scientists and practitioners are responding to these policy challenges in Canada and internationally.
