Jamaica MPA Project (project closed)

Project closed: 2013

This objective of the Jamaica MPA project is to increase the resilience of coastal ecosystems through the restoration and protection of selected ecosystems by developing business management plans for three marine protected areas (MPAs) – Montego Bay Marine Park, Negril Marine Park, and the Portland Bight Protected Area. The project will assist Jamaica with adaptation to climate change by increasing the resilience of vulnerable areas and reducing the risks that are associated with natural hazards, particularly in vulnerable communities. By increasing the resilience of these areas, the risk of climate change impacts should be somewhat mitigated.
