Dr Lina Taing has over a decade of research, project management and capacity building experience in the WASH and HIV sectors. She holds a PhD in Public Administration from the University of Cape Town; her doctoral research unpacked complex challenges that South Africa faced when servicing informal settlements. Lina coordinated and led interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral teams focused on improving basic water and health services for the urban and rural poor, and served as a consultant for governments, parastatals, health providers and NGOs in Southern and Eastern Africa. Funding from the European Commission’s Marie Sklodowska-Curie COFUND supported Lina’s policy implementation research at IHE Delft (formerly UNESCO-IHE), where she also developed the behaviour science-focused module for a new 12-month MSc in Sanitation funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. At UNU-INWEH, Lina leads the thematic direction on interactions between water management and human health.
