Meryl is a student in the Masters of Global Health program at McMaster University. She is specializing in Global Health management, with a special interest in water resources management. Her interest in water stems from her undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, as well as four years working in industrial water treatment. Before returning to do her masters, Meryl was the Executive Director of a nonprofit focused on improving mental health outcomes for vulnerable children through sport. Meryl also traveled to Tanzania to volunteer teaching English and science to underprivileged children. Her main interests now lie in the links between water, sanitation and hygiene and the health of children under five in developing countries. While at UNU-INWEH, Meryl will be working under the supervision of Dr. Lina Taing and Dr. Manzoor Qadir to review the current global status of evidence and interventions for antimicrobial resistance risks.
