Dr Nagabhatla is a (natural) systems science specialist and a geospatial analyst. She holds an MSc degree from Pantnagar Agricultural University and a PhD from the University of Pune, India. She had led, coordinated and implemented transdisciplinary projects and worked with multi-disciplinary researcher teams in various geographical regions and in varied thematic domains related to water and ecosystems, particularly in Asia, South Africa and Western Europe. Nidhi worked for over 15 years a researcher at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), World Fish Center and International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) leading research and capacity development initiatives in water and wetland thematic domain. She is also affiliated with leading academics institutes: Oxford University (UK); Leibniz University (Germany) and McMaster University (Canada) in various roles, mostly related to sustainability research and science-policy interfacing and capacity development of young scholars. She serves as the Chair of the Steering Board for Young Professional Platform for Agriculture Research and Development (YPARD; FAO, Rome), a Task Force expert with the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Service (IPBES) and a Chevening fellow with University of Oxford’s Future Leaders Program, UK. Dr Nagabhatla published over 100 research papers and serves on the editorial and review committees of several international journals.
