Dr. Qiusheng Wu works at the intersection of geospatial data science, remote sensing, and environmental modeling.

Dr. Qiusheng Wu works at the intersection of geospatial data science, remote sensing, and environmental modeling. He employs big geospatial data and cloud computing (e.g., Google Earth Engine and Amazon Web Services) to study environmental change, especially surface water and wetland inundation dynamics. As the Environmental Change Data Visualization and Training Lead at UNU-INWEH, he is leading a new research and training initiative on topics such as environmental change, surface water dynamics, and geospatial data visualization.

Dr. Wu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography and Sustainability at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He has been a strong advocate of open science and reproducible research, having developed and published various open-source packages for advanced geospatial analysis and data visualization, such as geemap, leafmap, and segment-geospatial. He is currently working on developing open-access educational materials on geospatial analytics, which will be made available on the UNU-INWEH learning platforms.
