Tal Septon

Tal is a fourth-year undergraduate student at McMaster University pursuing a combined honors degree in Peace Studies and Political Science. His work here at UNU-INWEH will begin with researching and producing a synthesis paper examining the incorporation of water security into a peace and political stability framework with Dr. Nidhi Nagabhatla and Dr. Caner Sayan. His background in peace and conflict studies invigorates his interest in matters of hydro-diplomacy and transboundary water negotiations. He is just returning from an internship with the Foundation for Human Rights Initiative in Uganda where he contributed to a Human Rights Impact Assessment surrounding oil exploration in the Albertine Graben. One the thematic human rights examine was the right to health and a healthy environment. This included investigating the impacts recorded on water quality, water access, and water employment sectors due to oil exploration in the region.
